Hand in Hand Scholarship
Orland Anderson
Orlando is 13 and has one brother. He has been attending St. Gabriel parish for 8 years. Although rather quiet, Orlando is a great role model and leader among his peer group. He is an active participant in the church and often volunteers with the Missionaries of Charity. Getting to school is rather easy for him because he takes a bus; a rare commodity in Jamaica. Lacking a computer or printer can make turning in assignments difficult for him, though. Orlando loves playing sports in his free time. He hopes to one day be a firefighter so he can save lives. His service contribution will be feeding the elderly and cleaning the dining room at the Missionaries of Charity home.
